Adrienne Meier, Ph.D.

Professional Biography

Adrienne Meier, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY27471) with specialization in clinical and forensic psychology. Dr. Meier received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology, a doctoral program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). She also completed an APA Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship at New York University’s Bellevue Hospital Center, where she received specialized training in clinical and forensic psychology. Dr. Meier also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at City of Hope Medical Center, where she received specialized training in neuropsychology and researched the effects of cancer treatment on cognitive functioning. She also is registered as a Health Service Psychologist by the National Register.

Dr. Meier has trained and worked in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient community mental health clinics, Veteran Affairs (VA) healthcare system, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. She completed pre- and post-doctoral training with Dr. Annette Ermshar and has worked with her for the last five years. Dr. Meier has also worked within forensic and correctional settings through the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH), California Department of State Hospitals (DSH), and New York Office of Mental Health (OMH), where she provided treatment for severe psychiatric illnesses as well as for those court-mandated for restoration of competency and sanity and those convicted of sexual offenses. She also was previously certified through the California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) as a sex offender treatment provider.

Dr. Meier specializes in forensic psychology, neuropsychology, and clinical/diagnostic psychological assessment and evaluation. She conducts forensic evaluations at various stages of litigation to identify mitigating and aggravating factors. Dr. Meier has served as an expert witness in numerous court cases within the California Superior Courts. Her consultation and expert testimony experience includes addressing psycholegal questions pertinent to competence to stand trial, sexual offenses, risk assessment, grave disability, immigration, and neuropsychological functioning.

In terms of clinical work, Dr. Meier provides individual therapy for children (aged 5 and older), adolescents, and adults with behavioral problems, anxiety, mood and psychotic spectrum disorders, self-esteem issues, relational difficulties, addictions, as well as those experiencing difficulty achieving academic or occupational goals. In addition, Dr. Meier conducts psychological assessments to evaluate personality and psychological functioning. She also conducts neuropsychological assessments to identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses as well as barriers to academic and/or occupational success.

Dr. Meier has given numerous presentations and seminars on issues related to clinical, forensic, and neuropsychology and her research has been published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals. She currently serves on the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association board as the Local Advocacy Network (LAN) chair and is an American Psychology-Law Society (APLS) Professional Development of Women committee member. She also is a volunteer with the Soldier’s Network and Physicians for Human Rights (PHR). Dr. Meier is also an active member of the American Psychological Association, California Psychological Association, and Los Angeles County Psychological Association.
