In a generation of children who play video games instead of playing outside and have waning attention spans, it is often confusing to piece apart normal from abnormal behavior. For parents whose kids are the “troublemakers” in class or seem to be the living version of the energizer bunny, the answer might be that your child has undiagnosed ADHD. Are you experiencing teachers constantly complaining about their behavior in class? Does your child have problems sitting still, tapping his hands or feet, or squirm in their seat? Do they often leave their seat when they are expected to remain seated? Does your child talk excessively and interrupt or blurt out answers? Are they unable to engage in leisurely activities? With proper ADHD diagnosis and care, these children can thrive like their peers.

Before seeking help, here are a few things to take note of. Firstly, you want to be aware if the behavior problems are present in more than one setting, several of the symptoms should be present before the age of 12, and evidence that it is impeding the child’s normal functioning. Second, look at the child’s behaviors and ask yourself if these are normal for children.
